How to Compare French Fry Length Grades

Length grade is a commercial specification, not merely a visual preference. Confirming the percentage of long pieces before a quotation helps avoid comparing different products at the same cut width.

Grade A target

For the agreed sampling basis, Grade A targets ≥75 mm at ≥85%, ≥50 mm at ≥95%, and pieces below 25 mm at ≤1%. These are nested length thresholds, not three separate portions to add together.

Grade B target

Grade B targets ≥75 mm at ≥30%, ≥50 mm at ≥80%, and pieces below 25 mm at ≤4%. The final specification should also define the cut width, sample quantity and treatment of slivers or defects.

A practical buyer check

Confirm these points against the exact SKU and destination before finalizing a quotation or order.

  • Compare the same cut width and sampling basis
  • Confirm grade before pricing
  • Ask for the written product specification

Why can two 9 mm quotations differ?

The long-fry distribution, coating, pack and other quality limits can differ even when the cut width is identical.
