Frozen Fries Reefer Container Planning

Container choice changes landed cost per ton. The practical loading quantity depends on carton dimensions, destination limits and the shipping line’s equipment, so the final plan is confirmed before booking.

Typical net weights

A 40-foot reefer typically carries about 22 metric tons net. A 20-foot reefer is around 8 metric tons net for the current packing context. These are planning figures, not a guaranteed allowance for every route.

Why small containers can be less efficient

A 20-foot reefer often has freight that is not proportionally lower than a 40-foot reefer, while its net load is much smaller. For a regular import program, compare total landed cost per ton rather than only the freight invoice.

A practical buyer check

Confirm these points against the exact SKU and destination before finalizing a quotation or order.

  • Confirm gross weight and route restrictions
  • Mixed SKUs can be discussed
  • Keep the cold chain at or below −18°C

Can different products share one 40-foot reefer?

A mixed-SKU plan can be reviewed after carton sizes, quantities and production scheduling are confirmed.
